Dan outlined the recent activities undertaken at Cambridge Ahead, particularly with regards to their review and implementation of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Independent Economic Review CPIER Report 2018. He outlined the spatial planning and strategy implications of this Report, and how its impact is being measured and utilised effectively to recognise the dynamic economic growth of the greater Cambridgeshire region.
Next, Elliot Page (Stantec) presented a summary of the National Infrastructure Commission. He especially highlighted the Government’s commitments outlined in the NIC, and key themes covered by the framework.
Among these were:
Levelling up and strengthening the Union
Driving recovery and rebuilding the economy
Supporting private investment in infrastructure
Decarbonising the Economy
Finally, Tom Newcombe (Birketts) presented an update on Government’s positioning with regards to the standard housing methodology. Providing an initial outlining of the context of the methodology, he offered insights in to the results of the discussions held last year and the impacts that these would have both nationally and regionally in East Anglia.
